And the winner is...

...Denise Chipman.

Congratulations, and thanks to everyone who participated in our giveaway. I appreciate all of your input!

I Dare You To Eat It

Another Emergency Preparedness Specialist I know recently attended a fireside given by Liesa Card on food storage. Liesa centers her food storage around the 7 cannery foods that the church provides for us. She has created a system to make sure you use your supplies before they expire and talks extensively about incorporating these items into your everyday meals with ease. She has written a book titled "I Dare You to Eat It" which discusses her system for short and long term food storage very thoroughly. This book also includes recipes using these long term staple items. She believes that our prophets and leaders have been inspired to have us store these particular food items for a reason, and stresses the importance of building our food storage around these items. Normally her book is $14.94 at Deseret Book, but by combining our order with this other ward, we're able to get this book for $8 a piece. This is an amazing deal! I have been limited to 15, so it will be first come first serve. This book would not only make a great resource, but also a great gift!

Please contact JoEllen if you are interested.

I have also heard rumor of a fireside of this nature taking place on this side of town (this one last week was in Henderson) so be on the look out for more information on that.

Shipping

And update for those who ordered storage buckets:

I just received an email stating that our order should ship within the next 3 days. I will let you know by phone when it arrives.

The shipping was slightly more than expected. I am asking for $4 per person to be contributed to cover the difference.

Long-Term Food Storage for December

Here is our suggested list for items to be collected this month to add to your long-term food storage. Remember, these items are suggested per person.

toothbrush
toilet paper and individually packaged handiwipes
batteries and flashlight
waterproof matches and candles

Due to the nature of our Stake's goals for 2011, we will be canceling further Project Noah updates. A full list of suggested long-term food storage items will be available on this blog in the near future. (I'm trying to make a printable version of the entire year.) Keep in mind that even the smallest effort will bring us blessings. You have to build your long-term storage one item at a time and our Father in Heaven is mindful of our efforts and sacrifices.
